OVERVIEW
The Department of Chest Diseases & Critical Care at Victor Hospital offers state-of-the-art technology for the diagnosis and management of respiratory disorders.
We routinely perform fiber-optic and rigid bronchoscopy as daycare outpatient procedures. Advanced bronchoscopic techniques such as Trans-Bronchial Lung Biopsy (TBLB), Trans-Bronchial Needle Aspiration (TBNA), and Bronchoalveolar Lavage (BAL) are successfully carried out. Therapeutic bronchoscopy in critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation has improved management outcomes, including early identification and treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Our Pulmonary Function Laboratory, supported by blood gas analysis, facilitates the evaluation of complex respiratory disorders. The Sleep Lab enables accurate diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), a major and often underdiagnosed condition. Thrombolysis has been effectively used in the management of critical pulmonary embolism cases.
The department also uses Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) with nasal CPAP for the effective management of acute respiratory failure.
